Sweets Of Our Youth

Sweets to be remembered and enjoyed by those of a certain age - around 40 to be precise

If you can remember that sinking feeling as, for the first time, your 1p only bought you one sweet (normally a Black Jack) then you were at school the same time as me. I still remember thinking the damn world had came to an end!!!

We all have great memories of all the different sweets we bought with our 10p pocket money from the corner shop, and our lunch money in the school tuckshop.

Different things trigger these memories, the jars of sweets behind the lottery machine, in my case the large belly I have never managed to shift!, or buying some of the sweets that are still around today such as Fingers of Fudge and " A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play" Mars Bars.

Well now you can relive all the sweet toothed joys of our childhood and buy a whole host of sweets that will bring back memories of dodgy school dinners (no Jamie Oliver back then) and trying to blow up theChemistry lab - or was that just me!

Better still, you can show the birthday boy or girl that you really have put some thought in to their 40th birthday present and they will love you for ever as it shows that you are ignoring the increasing paunch around their middle!!

Back at primary school I remember enjoying sweets such as Flying Saucers, Black Jacks, Milk Teeth and Chocolate Sticks. I also remember the Golf Ball bubble gum which seemed to get every where and, to by honest was never my faourite.

Its amazing how, when thinking back to your school days sweets seemed to play a big part of our lives. And they were not banned from the telly and frowned upon like they are today.

We would love to hear what your faourite sweets were and also the things you got up to at school in the late seventies and early eighties.

Use the form below to tell us your stories and the best / funniest story about your school days will win a Nostalgia Box of sweets worth over £20.00 to keep yourselve or send to someone celebrating their 40th birthday soon.

There is a prize a month and a selection of stories will be posted on the website for all to read so get your funny / silly / romantic stories of your youth in front of hundreds of people a day who will remember the same times as you.
