Music They Will Love - Great 40th Birthday Music Gifts
I think we can all remember sitting in the lounge in front of the TV watching Top Of The Pops and it being ruined by parents constantly telling you it was not 'proper' music. I still can remember my old man's face the first time Boy George appeared on the screen, it was a picture, although it wasnt much better for most of the new romantics such as Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran and Haircut 100.
Well it may be a sign of getting on a little because when I listen to what it left of the singles chart today, I seem to like anything that has a sample from the 80s in it and wonder how music has got so bad!!
That said there are still some brilliant albums out there from older artists and new acts alike plus a large number of compilations from the 80s etc. that are even more noticable around Christmas, Mothers Day and Fathers Day.
So I went on to Play.com today to se what is about and I just had to make sure you had seen this offering.
If there was one thing that came out of the 80s better than any other type of music, (other than U2, Meatloaf and Bon Jovi but thats just me) it has to be some of the groove and soul songs on this album.
Just reading through the play list brought the sounds and beats to my head with the classics Aint Nobody from Rufus and Chaka Khan and Somebody Elses Guy from Jocelyn Brown standing out as the first two tracks. What a way to start an album!! Just the first of the three discs has other classics such as Whos Zooming Who, I Found Lovin, Can You Feel It, Aint No Stopping Us Now and one of my all time (Oh god Im dancing in my chair) numbers Love Come Down from Evelyn "Champagne" King. With two more discs to go!!!
Moving on to Disc 2 the groove extrazaganza carries on with such tunes as I.O.U. , Roadblock and It's Like That plus another all time classic floor stomper Let The Music Play from Shannon. These may have been easy targets for your parents and were definately not going to win awards for song writing but no night out was complete without at least one play of the above from the DJ! - Not forgetting the mandatory kebab on the way home.
Disc Three carries on with such greats as Sexual Heeling, Just An Illusion, Shake You Down and is finished with the brilliant Lovely Day from Bill Withers. This is a fantastic album that anybody that ever danced in the 80s will want to have. Buy it now for them at just £10.99 including free delivery.
